Ever since its inception in 2002, LUMUN has a list of achievements to its credit. At the international level, our members are proven world-beaters. LUMUN has won not only individual Best Delegate Awards, but is currently ranked at the top of the world due to the Outstanding Delegation Award at the Harvard WorldMUN2006 and Harvard WorldMUN2007. The experience and exposure that our members have received at these conferences has been invaluable for their personal and professional grooming.

Inspired by unprecedented success at the International level, LUMUN developed a vision of introducing and promotion Model UN in Pakistan. An important part of this vision was achieved when LUMUN hosted the 1st ever All Pakistan Model UN Conference, LUMUN2004. Since then there has been no looking back, All Pakistan Model UN has become a regular feature of the LUMS event calendar and has mobilized wide-spread interest amongst students from all over Pakistan. LUMUN conferences are now one of the most keenly awaited events of the year amongst the Pakistani youth.

The overwhelming response that LUMUN conferences have received over the years has lead us to take yet another initiative, the LUMUN Affiliate Program. This program takes our vision of promoting Model UN to all corners of the country through LUMUN affiliate societies and conferences. We aim to incorporate various schools, colleges and universities in the exclusive pool of LUMUN affiliates-providing them an institutional platform, recognition and support for their efforts to conduct Model UN sessions at the institution, city, district and provincial levels.

This not-for-profit initiative is intended for students and institutions who share LUMUN’s belief that the institution of the United Nations has the potential of meeting all challenges facing our world today. It also gives Pakistani youth an opportunity to speak their minds out, to be heard and to gain in-depth understanding of the world.

Being the largest and by far the most active Model UN Society in Pakistan, LUMUN has a wealth of experience and knowledge regarding MUNs. You can benefit immensely by having access to our know-how of the workings of the UN, the rules & procedures and also the management side of such events.

For institutions, conducting such conferences can help them a great deal in fulfilling their responsibility of providing their students a chance to acquire hands-on experience in event management as well as letting them have a chance to gain insight into the ‘real’ threats facing our world.

We at LUMUN genuinely believe that we have a responsibility to fulfill towards the Pakistani youth; we ought to make sure that every bit of benefit that we received through our experiences gets transferred to a whole new generation of Pakistani MUN enthusiasts. Representing Pakistan at these international events has indeed been a privilege, yet we believe that more and more Pakistani students should have the opportunity to do the same.

Not only this, hosting international events such as the upcoming Pakistan International MUN Conference (LUMUN2006) can enable us to remove the pre-conceived notions and stereotypes that many foreigners, especially those from the western hemisphere have about Pakistan. We ought to show the world that Pakistan is a hospitable and secure country and our people are genuinely warm and friendly towards foreign visitors.
